Ivan Fukalov. Legitimation of the power of leaders during the uprising of 1916 in Semirechye.

Abstract: The article, on the basis of historical and archival materials devoted to the uprising of the indigenous Muslim population against imperial power in 1916 in Semirechye, presents key factors of promoting the leaders of the uprising (“new khans”), and legitimizing their power as part of the traditional function of khans – military leaders of the Kyrgyz tribes.
