Panel 1: Historiography and sources for study of the uprising

Synaru Alymkulova.  Bayaly Isakeev and his work “1916 Uprising”.

Abstract: Bayaly Isakeev lived a short but bright life, torn by the millstones of mass Stalinist repression. His inexhaustible craving for knowledge, analysis and synthesis of historical events, with managerial experience and talent and persevering character are the main components of his formation as a distinctive statesman. The post of Chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kirghiz SSR (Prime Minister) would be a milestone, a step on the way of hard work on self-development, and not the end point of his life …His work “The Uprising of 1916” is an example of painstaking work on the restoration of events that he could not cover, being in their center, in the cycle; but ten years later, with the involvement of all available sources and a comparison of his data, as an eyewitness, Bayaly Isakeev created a work that has not lost its value even today.
