In Kyrgyzstan, women face violence on a daily basis, and many lose their lives at the hands of their husbands or relatives. Aigine CRC cannot remain silent in the face of this painful reality. We created the “The blessing of Seven Mothers” project to give voice to the grief for innocent daughters and sisters whose lives were taken. The author of the traditional laments is Shaakan Toktogul. These are not just written texts. They are the voice of a society deeply wounded by violence, voices of remembrance, and pleas for justice. Today there are seven laments. Seven stories — Altynai, Aizirek, Aikyz, Rakhima, Aiturgan, Burulai, and Aizada. Their names must never fade from our memory. Each lament is a reminder that violence is not behind us – it is still here, repeating again and again. When we read these words, we realize they are not about the past. They are about today. About us. We want society, the state, and those in power to listen and not remain indifferent. We want these living words to become more than words. We need real steps to protect women and children.
Blessing of Seven Mothers: Lament for Murdered Women
May no Kyrgyz mother ever again have to sing a lament for a daughter murdered by violence.
