On December 12, the team of the Aigine Cultural Research Center met with Sunil Harsana and his disciples in the village of Mangar, located on the border of the states of Delhi and Haryana, where he lives and carries out his work. For more than 20 years, Sunil has been engaged in the protection of natural and cultural heritage and has successfully implemented a number of significant initiatives during this time.
During the meeting, we discussed the efforts undertaken by the local community to safeguard their natural and cultural heritage, as well as the challenges they face in this process. In particular, some of the most ancient petroglyphs located in this area are being damaged as a result of development-driven activities, such as road construction and the extraction and removal of soil and stone. Unfortunately, similar alarming cases also occur in Kyrgyzstan.
Sunil Harsana asked our team to help disseminate information more widely about the destruction currently taking place in this area.
