Field trip

The Aigine CRC team, accompanied by a group of archaeologists from the Rock Art division of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, traveled to Haryana, a state located near Delhi. This area is historically associated with local pastoral and nomadic communities, such as the Gujjars, who rely on livestock herding and maintain a strong connection with the surrounding forests and hills. Prehistoric rock art – petroglyphs and ancient drawings – has been discovered in this region.

Aigine CRC expresses its deep gratitude to Dr. Richa Negi, Head of the Rock Art Department at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, for organizing the trip, participating in it, and contributing to the discussion on the methodology for studying intangible cultural heritage related to petroglyphs.
