The third day: Connection Between Petroglyphs and Contemporary Creativity

The third day of the regional gathering, held from 10 to 14 November within the project “Safeguarding Traditional Art through the Creation of a Unified Interactive Platform of Central Asian Petroglyphs,” has come to an end.
The day began with the continuation of group work and the presentation of group results. The main focus of the discussions was identifying principles for responsible approaches to petroglyphs across various fields represented by the participants — archaeology, ethnographic knowledge, local knowledge traditions, and ancestral wisdom. Each group proposed a set of principles, including different ways to protect petroglyphs and to strengthen the younger generation’s respectful and caring attitude toward them by creating creative and educational spaces.
After the group presentations, one of the most inspiring parts of the gathering took place — the session dedicated to the connection between petroglyphs and contemporary artistic creativity.
Artists and visionaries — Jumagul Tashiev, Gulmira Kutueva, Mayramkul Asanaliev, Sanjar Zhubanov and Mirrakhim Toktogul — presented their works, including ceramic pieces, felt artworks, paintings, and artistic performances, all created with inspiration drawn from petroglyphs.
The afternoon was devoted to summarizing the results of the gathering and expressing gratitude to four partners who made significant contributions to the development of the digital database of Central Asian petroglyphs: Almazbek Bektashev (Kyrgyzstan), Zhanerke Shaigozova (Kazakhstan), Marina Bedelbaeva (Kazakhstan), and Firuza Salimova (Uzbekistan).
All participants expressed appreciation for the collaborative work and shared their readiness to continue joint efforts in the future.
