On May 7, the Aigine Cultural Research Center team successfully completed a field expedition that began in Kok-Zhar village, located in the Nookat District. The goal of the expedition was to investigate and document a unique cluster of petroglyphs in the Aravan District, near the border with Uzbekistan. Until now, this site had remained outside the focus of academic attention. Together with archaeologist Saltanat Alisher kyzy, the team recorded the discovered petroglyphs. These rock images will undergo further analysis and be interpreted, including through traditional lenses.
Aigine CRC is currently preparing materials about this site for integration into the Central Asian Petroglyphs Database — a resource being developed to consolidate, preserve, and make accessible knowledge about rock art in the region.
