Engaging new generations

On September 25, 2024, a meeting was held with freshmen who had just entered the history and archaeology departments of the Kyrgyz National University (KNU).  At the meeting, the project team presented a digital map and animated video of the Murdash Bashy complex, which opened the door to the world of ancient history for the young students. After the viewing we had a lively discussion, during which the students asked questions about the methods of dating petroglyphs, as well as about different approaches to the interpretation of these ancient images. The conversation showed that the topic of ancient heritage is of interest to the new generation, with some students showing a particular passion and desire to delve deeper into the study of rock art.  The archaeologist Oroz Soltobaev and the traditional expert Chynara Seidakhmatova led the meeting, presenting diverse perspectives and concepts.
