As part of the “Uluu Toolor” (“Great Mountains”) project, on April 22 and 23, the Aigine Cultural Research Center team conducted training sessions on local research in three schools in the Issyk-Kul region, located near Mount Tastar-Ata: the villages of Kazhy-Saz (Korgondy-Bulak), Ton, and Tuura-Suu.
The project’s goal is to strengthen relationships between the younger and older generations through local research and a deeper understanding of their village and region, as well as to preserve, reflect, and transmit local oral history and its unique characteristics. The research will continue for one month, and on May 21, students from the three schools will present their findings to a jury. The best school will be awarded a prize. The training was conducted by Aibek Samakov, Zhumagazy Salyr uulu, and the Aigine CRC team.
High school students from grades 7-11 are conducting research among local residents on topics such as petroglyphs, legends, medicinal plants, and successful women. The students are using the skills and knowledge gained during the training to carry out their research and will present their findings in creative formats, including video reports, photo exhibitions, and plays. Throughout the month, the young researchers are actively posting photo and video reports about the process on social media, showcasing the information obtained during the training.
