The Aigine CRC team took participation in the 18th Annual Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage from December 5-10.
Aigine CRC Director Gulnara Aitpaeva, a member of the Evaluation Body, presented nomination files from various countries awaiting inscription of their elements on UNESCO’s official lists.
As part of the work of the Intergovernmental Committee, Elechek, a traditional Kyrgyz women’s headdress, and traditional midwifery were inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This element was submitted for inscription by 7 countries – Colombia, Cyprus, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Slovenia, Togo.
