Safeguarding Murdash petroglyphs and related traditional knowledge through mapping and digitalization

In 2022-2023, within the framework of several projects, the Aigine CRC team together with archaeologists and traditional practitioners conducted a series of field visits to 6 complexes of historical and cultural monuments of Kyrgyzstan and developed a website with archaeological and traditional description of each complex. The first complex for which a map with archaeological description and traditional interpretation of each site was developed was the Ak Bulun historical and cultural complex in Ysyk-Kul oblast.

This month, the Aigine CRC team will start developing a map of the Murdash Bashy complex in Osh province. As part of this activity, field visits will be conducted, stones with images will be recorded and a map with information on each site and the complex as a whole will be developed.
