⌨️ With consultation from Asel Daniyarova (Sanjarbek Daniyarov Foundation) and in partnership with Soltec in celebration of 100 years of Kyrgyz statehood, we are beginning the digitization and transliteration of the newspaper Erkin Too (1924–1927). Erkin Too was the first Kyrgyz newspaper, originally published in Arabic script in 1924, later transitioning partly to Latin script. Of the 144 issues, only three have been digitized, and they remain inaccessible to researchers. This newspaper is a rare source that reflects the early development of Kyrgyz statehood, and we aim to make it available to anyone interested in the history of Kyrgyzstan.
