👩🏻💻 Online Meetings: On June 20, the Aigine Cultural Research Center team held an online meeting with the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty. During the meeting, organizing a special training seminar for experts on intangible cultural heritage and representatives of the Ministries of Culture of Central Asian countries to prepare nomination files for inclusion in UNESCO lists was discussed.
📇 Verification of Field Research Results in Naryn Region: As part of a partnership project between the Aigine Cultural Research Center and the initiative group “Suuchular,” an event was held on June 18-19 to verify the collected information on traditional veterinary practices and livestock treatment based on field research on the impact of climate change on intangible cultural heritage in the Naryn region. Local researchers who conducted field research and gathered information in the Naryn region, as well as community representatives who provided information, shared their experiences, widely discussed findings, and made suggestions. During the event, an educational trip to livestock farms with informants took place. The project leader is Dr. Aybek Samakov. The local researchers are Guljamal Esenalieve, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Naryn State University named after S. Naamatov, and Erbol Medetbek uulu and Asel Salbarova, students of the same faculty. The research will result in recommendations on the impact of climate change on intangible cultural heritage and adaptive measures, which will be formatted into a practical guide.
🌌 Local Knowledge about Stars: The Aigine Cultural Research Center team, together with the initiative group “Jyldyz Sanak,” is preparing to implement a new project called “Baldar Asmany” (Children’s Sky). The main goal of the project is to revive, adapt, and transmit ancient traditional knowledge about the starry world and celestial spheres to children. The expected outcomes of the project include the publication of a colorful book in Kyrgyz containing three indigenous legends, as well as the creation of an animated film revealing traditional knowledge and representations of the movement of celestial bodies and the arrangement of stars related to some petroglyphs at Saimaluu-Tash. On June 18, the Aigine Cultural Research Center team held the first meeting with members of the initiative group “Jyldyz Sanak” – senior lecturer at J. Balasagyn KGNU, astronomy teaching methodology specialist Abakir Kalybekov, and independent journalist and researcher of Kyrgyz genealogy Shaakan Toktogul. The initial activities and expected outcomes of the project were discussed at the meeting.
🎶 Learning Process: The project working group “Introducing Konur Un into the Sound of the Kyrgyz Orchestra,” musicians Cholpon Turumbaeva, Rysbek Junushov, and Zalina Kasymova continue the process of teaching young musicians to play reconstructed 4-string komuz and reconstructed kyl kyyak. These musical instruments were specially created within the project by masters Rysbek Junushov and Marat Berikbaev. The musicians conducted the second listening of the project participants, who are undergoing training on the reconstructed komuz and kyl kyyak in the form of individual exams.
