👩🏻💻 Working Meetings: On June 8, as part of the project “Digital Journey to ICH of Kyrgyzstan” a working meeting was held to verify and supplement the national list of “Kyrgyz Craft Knowledge and Traditional Items.” The information was prepared by craft specialist, bearer of traditional knowledge, and master craftswoman Aydai Asangulova. During the meeting, the completeness of the prepared information was assessed and necessary additions were made. The information will be posted on the relevant digital platform being developed as part of the project.
📊 Participation in TV Program: On June 12, the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation of Kyrgyzstan filmed an episode of the “Kosh Kanat” (Two Wings) series dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples. The yurt, the traditional dwelling of the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, is an example of such heritage and was included in the UNESCO Representative List in 2014, exactly 10 years ago. Gulnara Aitpaeva, the director of the Aigine Cultural Research Center, spoke about the procedure for preparing and promoting joint nominations, emphasizing that it is the work of many people and that bearers of cultural heritage, their knowledge, and values are at the center of any application.
📊 Working Meetings: Verification of Field Research Results in Batken Region: As part of the partnership project between the Aigine Cultural Research Center and the “Suuchular” initiative group on the impact of climate change on intangible cultural heritage, events were held to verify the collected data on apricot cultivation in the Batken region based on field research conducted on June 11 and 12. Local researchers who collected the data in the Batken region and community representatives who provided information shared their experiences, thoroughly discussed the proposed conclusions, and made suggestions. During the work, a visit to the apricot orchard and a trip to the Toktolugul Oluy mausoleum were organized. The project leader is Aibek Samakov, with local researchers Nazgul Aldasheva and Aigul Jamalidinova. As a result of the research, recommendations on the impact of climate change on intangible cultural heritage and adaptation measures will be developed.
