👩🏻💻 Work Meetings: On May 29, the Aigine CRC team held an online meeting with Ramazan Egamov, the founder of the Sarmishsay Reserve, located in the Navoiy region of Uzbekistan. The Sarmishsay Reserve is renowned for its petroglyphic images and rare species of flora and fauna. During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between Aigine and the Reserve were discussed based on the common interests and potential of the organizations.
📑 General Assembly of the ICH NGO Forum: An emergency General Assembly of the ICH NGO Forum took place online on May 28. The main purpose of this event was to discuss the declaration “Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Context of Climate Change.” The event was attended by 77 out of 237 accredited organizations from around the world. The declaration will be adopted by voting within a few days after the assembly. It was developed by the Forum’s Working Group on “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Climate.” Aigine CRC is a member of the Forum’s Executive Committee from 2023 to the end of 2024, representing the Asia-Pacific region.
📊 Work Process: As part of the project “Digital Journey into the World of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Kyrgyzstan,” the project team has begun preparing the production of seven video infographics on the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The video infographics will include a broad and accessible visual explanation of the goals and key concepts of the Convention, safeguarding measures, UNESCO lists under the Convention, as well as the main domains of intangible cultural heritage in Kyrgyzstan. These video infographics will be integrated into the overall platform for the ICH inventory of Kyrgyzstan, which is under development as part of the aforementioned project.
