In 2021, Aigine CRC team, on the initiative of Manas epic chanter Tilek Asanov, together with the residents of Ak-Bulun village of the Issyk-Kul region, explored petroglyphs located in the mountains near Ak-Bulun. As it turned out, this complex was not known to specialists, was not documented and was not included in the registers of the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan.
Since June 2022, Aigine CRC, with the support of Pawanka Fund, has started a project to study and preserve traditional knowledge associated with Ak-Bulun petroglyphs. The purpose of the project: together with specialists, students of two universities and local practitioners, to carry out certification of Ak-Bulun petroglyphs and create an online multimedia map of Ak-Bulun petroglyph complex based on the passport. The map will be both a way to preserve and communicate information to young people through tools that are attractive and understandable to them.
One of the main objectives of the project is to involve motivated students of Issyk-Kul State University named after K. Tynystanov and Manas University.
The project is led by Aiza Abdyrakhmanova and Cholponai Usubalieva-Grischuk.
