The last session of the Regional Seminar on Excellence in Teaching (ReSET) Soviet in Everyday Life was conducted on March 27-31, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey. Initially it was planned that the session will be attended only by those participants who, by the end of the three-year project, would be able to present near-complete articles for discussion. The number of such participants reached nine, however, only six of them were able to attend the session. Thus, the focus of the session\u2019s work was concentrated on the articles of those participating in the session.<\/p>\n
On the first day, the group reviewed and discussed draft versions of two articles written in Russian language, Family at Work? Boundaries of \u201cpublic\u201d and \u201cprivate\u201d in professional ethos of a Soviet teacher, by Aleksandr Chashukhin and Irina Rebrova, as well as the article by Yulia Skubytska,Constructing a new city: How residential districts have changed the Soviet city space.<\/p>\n
The first half of the second day was dedicated to discussion of the articles written in English language by Jeanne Feaux de la Croix, After the worker state: competing and converging frames of valuing labor in rural Kyrgyzstan, and The company as a family and the company in a family. Changing family and labor relations in an Estonian mine, by Eva Keskula. During the second half of the day, the group had an opportunity to discuss the website Soviet in everyday life. Model for developing a course. Founder, designer and the main driving force of the website, Olga Smolyak, presented the structure of the website and its current state. There were emphasized and discussed certain underdeveloped areas of the website, which could be completed by participants\u2019 joint efforts.<\/p>\n
On the third day of the session, participants reviewed the article, From work to home, from home to work: journey of things in social space of the late Soviet era, written by Olga Smolyak. Participants also reviewed those journals where their articles could be published. Two journals, Laborotorium and Ab Imperio were considered and reviewed in terms of their thematic course for the current year, recognition and non-recognition by High Attestation Commitee and their quotability. As a result, participants agreed that the Laborotorium is the best option, and set the deadlines for completing and submitting the articles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
