International Uluu Ot Ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date: June 17-21, 2008
Place: Bishkek and Manjyly Ata Sacred Site, Issyk-Kul oblast<\/p>\n

Goals:
The Aigine Research Center and WISN, World Indigenous Science-Network (USA), with financial support of The Christensen Fund organized this ceremony in order to unite traditional practitioners all over the world through lighting fire on the same day and at the same time. The main purpose of lighting a Sacred Fire was to remind people that we are a whole, that we are tightly related to one another, to the Earth and to Nature. Recent catastrophes and natural cataclysms make us think once more on the issues of what we are doing wrong and what we should do further for the welfare of the people all over the world.<\/p>\n

The Ceremony
On June 21, 2008 at midnight a Sacred Fire was light at the Manjyly Ata Sacred Site. This date was chosen by local elders according to their visions.<\/p>\n

This year the ceremony had two parts. First three days discussions, lectures were held in the office of Aigine and every evening the participants were driven outside of the city to lit fires of different cultures.<\/p>\n

In the 20th of June participants came to Manjyly-Ata for the main ceremony, to light the fire.<\/p>\n

Participants
11 international participants from Mexico, USA, Kenya, Ethiopia, Greenland, Mongolia, India, Russia were invited. Their trip was covered by Aigine Research Center. About 40 local participants also were supported by the center. The total number of participants of the ceremony was about 60 in the discussions and about 200 in the main ceremony.<\/p>\n
