This project aims to preserve and activate traditional women’s practices, which are important elements of the indigenous culture of the Kyrgyz people. Three traditional women’s practices – bata (blessing), saima saiyuu (pattern creation), and koshok aituu (mourning) – will be used as tools against violence and for the rehabilitation of women who have experienced violence. Bata, as a practice of blessing and wishing well, will serve as a form of support. Women will be offered words of support, understanding, and motivation to overcome difficulties and restore their self-esteem. Saima saiyuu, the art of creating patterns, will be used as a form of therapy and self-expression, allowing women to express their feelings and experiences through creativity. Koshok aituu, or the mourning ritual, can serve as a way to release emotional burden and trauma. The project involves the creation of bata, saima, and koshok by practicing women specifically to help those suffering from violence. Koshok – public mourning will be created in memory of girls who died from violence. These practices will be documented, digitized, and disseminated through digital media and social networks as project products.

📕 Preparation for Publication: The process of translating and editing Apela Colorado’s book “Woman Between the Worlds” into Kyrgyz has been completed as part of the partnership project of Aigine CRC and the NGO “Arysh-Kench.” The book is currently at the stage of collecting feedback and reviews to get responses from readers and professional experts, as well as creating the design for the future publication. After this, the book will be sent for printing.

👩🏻‍💻 Working Meeting: On July 26, the Aigine CRC team held a working meeting with artist and animator Asel Kitaeva. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss collaboration within the “Baladar Asmany” (Children’s Sky) project. Asel, together with a team of young artists, will begin creating colorful illustrations for a Kyrgyz-language book containing folk legends about the starry world and celestial spheres for children, as well as producing a video lesson that reveals traditional knowledge and ideas about the movement of celestial bodies and the arrangement of stars.

These projects are supported by the Pavanak Fund.

👩🏻‍🍼 Support for Mothers: Aigine CRC, in partnership with the “Mother’s Support” initiative group, is launching the “Blessings of Seven Mothers” project.
