Lecturers:
Apela Colorado (USA), Dr. Apela Colorado received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin. As a Ford Fellow, Apela studied for her Doctorate at both Harvard and Brandeis Universities and received her Ph.D. from Brandeis in Social Policy in 1982. Apela is a member of the Oneida tribe and is a traditional cultural practitioner. Drawing from both Native and academic training, Dr. Colorado established the Spirit Camp cultural revitalization project with the University of Alaska in 1985, and then relocated to the University of Calgary where she built the Native Social Work Concentration and represented the University\u2019s Division of International Development, (the first Canadian international center of excellence) at numerous overseas conferences and in research and evaluation projects. Marcela S. Sabin Ponce (USA): Completed a MA in the Indigenous Mind Program, founded by Dr. Apela Colorado at Naropa University in Oakland. She studied traditional dances, ceremonies, and healing practices. In college conducted a research project on traditional healing practices of Mayan midwives in Yucatan, Mexico, which included living in the indigenous community of Xcalacdzonot for 6 months.<\/p>\n
Juan Rafael Arteaga Salazar (Mexico): He was a collaborator for the spiritual unification between M?xico and Spain (1991). He promoted the gathering between groups that have kept the ancient knowledge between Mexico and Spain. During this gathering the Elder Guadalupe Jimenez Sanabria granted forgiveness to the people of Spain, and after the event Mexican dancers took the Aztec dance to Spain in 1992. He is a Council Member of the Visionary Guardians of the Earth (1991). This is a board made up of indigenous people from around the world whose mission is to restore the balance of the planet.<\/p>\n
Goal of the seminar: Considering the possibilities of integration the traditional knowledge with modern system of education<\/p>\n
Seminar was oriented for people:
Who are interested with the questions of traditional spirituality and wisdom
Who studies and works for development of traditional knowledge
Who works with traditional societies
Selection criteria of participant were:
High education, preferably in social and humanity sciences.
Teaching experience in social and humanity disciplines in high schools and universities
Teaching or research experience on related topic of the seminar
