VISIT OF THE CHRISTENSEN FUND\u2019S BOARD OF TRUSTEES<\/h3>\n

The Board of Trustees of the Christensen Fund visited Kyrgyzstan in august of 2006. The Board is headed by Diana Christensen, a daughter of the founder of the Fund. She also came with the group together. The main goal of the visit was to acknowledge with the work of the Fund\u2019s grantees in Central Asian region.<\/div>\n

The part of the Board took part at the trip to Talas oblast organized by Aigine RC. There were the Vice-President of the Board Dr. Thomas Seligman, Professor of Biology of Stanford University Dr. Rodolfo Dirzo, the leader of Central Asian region and Turkey Dr. Rafique Keshavjee and other in this group.<\/div>\n

The Trustees had meetings and discussions with guardians and active pilgrims of sacred sites of Talas oblast; with members of the working groups of Aigine who are students of Talas State University; with mediums of traditional knowledge and experts of folk traditions. Aigine\u2019s experts on zoology, biology, botany gave presentations of the project\u2019s results on biodiversity, which was conducted on seven sacred sites of Talas oblast in 2006. Furthermore, the Trustees visited a few sacred sites as Nyldy Ata, Arashan and Manas Ordo; they took part at the rituals as a sacrificial offering, Zikir Chaluu (chanting in honor of God), and Sham Jaguu (sacral candle fire).<\/div>\n
