On April 9 and 10, 2021, Aigine CRC, represented by Cholponai U-G, took part in the International Symposium on Tugging Games and Rituals, organized by the International Information and Networking Center for ICH in the Asian Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP). The symposium was held online with the participation of researchers, experts and practitioners from Vietnam, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines and South Korea.
The symposium was timed to coincide with the 5th anniversary of the introduction of the joint nomination of the five countries of the Asia-Pacific region for the traditional game and practices of tug-of-war on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. The aim of this symposium is to study and understand the value of this element and ensure its sustainability in the modern world.
On the first day of the symposium, Aigine CRC made a presentation on the games and rituals associated with the lasso in the countries of Central Asia, their historical characteristics and modern practices.
