⛰️ Motion Video Development: The project “Preservation of Murdash Bashy Petroglyphs and Related Traditional Knowledge through Mapping and Digitization” is dedicated to the ancient stone drawings of Murdash Bashy, which are being destroyed and disappearing before our eyes due to active coal mining operations. In collaboration with the Tentek association, the final version of the storyboard for the future animated motion video has been completed. The storyline is based on understanding the significance of the Murdash Bashy historical and cultural complex. The plot was formed through the work of traditional practitioners and archaeologists interpreting the stone drawings of the Murdash Bashy complex. During the storyboarding process, sketches of each scene for the future animated film were created. The working team has moved on to the next stage: animating the drawn scenes and storyline.

📰 Indigenous Names: As part of the “Tüpqü Kyrgyzstan” (Indigenous Kyrgyzstan) project, a meeting with scholar Abakir Kalybekov was held this week at the Aygyne Cultural Center office. The aim of this project is to identify and study the original toponyms and hydronyms of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, Abakir shared a map of Kyrgyzstan from his personal archive, digitized in 2000 at the University of California (USA). The map may contain missing, displaced geographical names.

📕 Book Preparation for Publication: The process of preparing the Kyrgyz translation of Apela Colorado’s book “Women Between Worlds” for publication has been completed. The translation was done by Cholponai Usubalieva-Grishchuk as part of a partnership project between the Aygyne Cultural Center and the NGO “Arysh-Kench.” During the preparation for publication, feedback was collected from people specializing in traditional spirituality, as well as from a poet and storyteller of the epic “Manas.” The book’s design was created by a young artist, Aliya Alisherova, a student at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
