📻 Radio Show “Asyl Zhan”: On February 26, the guests for the final interview of the “Asyl Zhan” series were Gulnara Aitpaeva, the head of AigineCultural Research Center, and Cholponai Usubalieva-Grishchuk, the senior project coordinator. The show was initiated by Aigine CRC and supported by Community Media to combat and reduce the incidence of violence. Over three months, thirty-six live interviews were conducted, allowing representatives from various fields, including women who have experienced violence, to share their thoughts and life experiences. In the final broadcast, Gulnara Aitpaeva and Cholponai U-G discussed the intentions, goals, and challenges of this series of broadcasts.

📚 Evaluation Committee’s Work: On February27 and 28, the Evaluation Committee of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO began its work in 2024. The committee consists of 12 members representing all regions of the world, with six members elected from non-committee states and six from non-governmental organizations accredited by UNESCO. In the 2022 elections, Aigine CRC  was elected to the Evaluation Committee as a non-governmental organization representing the Asia-Pacific region for a four-year term.

💭 Work Meetings: On February 27, Aigine CRC  staff met with Anarbai Turganbaev, a former soldier who participated in the Afghan War from 1981 to 1983. The meeting discussed the role of the native language and traditional knowledge during wartime, the significance of rituals and beliefs, and whether the wisdom of the people could be beneficial in fulfilling military tasks.

✍️ Preservation of Murdash Petroglyphs: The Aigine CRC  team continues working on the creation of a digital map for the historical and cultural complex Murdash Bashy in the Osh region. The project’s working group is also progressing in developing traditional interpretations of the Murdash Bashy petroglyphs. Each stone will be accompanied by an archaeological note and a traditional interpretation of the drawing.
