Within the framework of the project “Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and Transformation of Cultural Codes”, Aigine CRC supported the initiative of Uyghur activists living in the city of Karakol to document elements of their cultural heritage. Working meetings
On August 21-25, representatives of the Aigine CRC held a series of meetings in Bishkek, Karakol and Ak Suu district center in order to study ways and possibilities of creating a protected area around Ak Bulun petroglyphs in Ak Suu district, Issyk-Kul province. This proposal was made by partners – experts in archeology and material heritage during the implementation of a research and educational project. Sustainable Research Data Collection for ICH Safeguarding: Focusing on Central Asia and Small Island Developing States
On August 10, the Aigine CRC took part at the workshop within the framework of the project “Sustainable Research Data Collection for ICH Safeguarding in the Asia-Pacific Region”. The participants of the workshop were welcomed by the Director-General of IRCI Mr. Wataru Iwamoto. During the meeting, future partners got acquainted with the activities of the IRCI Center – UNESCO Category 2 Center, learned about plans to develop the existing database of the center. On July 25, the First Meeting of the Planning Committee under the project ‘Creation of the Asia-Pacific Regional Hub of Research for the Safeguarding of ICH’ . The project was initiated and is being implemented by the International Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), Japan. The purpose of the meeting was introduction of Committee Members, briefing of the project and its timeline, discussion on the programme in FY 2022.
